Payment Note
Registrants will have the option to pay by PO, check or credit card; after January 16, 2026, only credit card payments will be accepted.
Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel your registration, registration fees are refundable less a $50 administrative fee if cancelled by January 16, 2026. After January 16, no refunds will be issued, but substitutions are allowed. PLEASE NOTE: All registrations are subject to the cancellation fee regardless of the type of payment. You are advised to make sure you have travel approval before registering for the Academy.

Field Experience Opportunities
Monday Field Experience (Included with Registration)
Registration includes an all-day Instructional Field Trip on Monday. Participants will visit Jockey’s Ridge State Park and Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge. At each location will be a presentation of local and regional initiatives for engaging the wildlife viewing public, covering birds, sea turtles, marine mammals, and red wolves. Lunch, water and snacks will be provided. Advance RSVP through the registration site is strongly encouraged to for transportation and lunch planning.
Friday Optional Field Experiences (Additional Fees Apply; Not Included with Registration)
North Carolina Bird Atlas: 8:00 – Noon and 1:00 – 5:00 (Two Groups) Participants will visit a local birding hotspot. Trip leaders will guide participants in the local avifauna, the difference between Birding and Atlasing, and considerations for engaging the birding public for a statewide Participatory Science Project. Transportation, water and snacks included. 5 participants minimum; 12 max per trip
North Carolina Aquarium: 8:00 – Noon and 1:00 – 5:00 (Two Groups) Participants will visit the North Carolina Aquarium in Manteo and have a chance to tour the behind-the-scenes facility and the aquarium exhibits themselves. Transportation, water and snacks included. 5 participants minimum; 12 maximum per trip
Wright Brothers Memorial: 8:00 – Noon and 1:00 – 5:00 (Two Groups) Participants will visit the sight of the first powered flight at the Wright Brothers Memorial. Staff will give a presentation on the history of the Wright Brothers accomplishments and the park. Transportation, water and snacks included. 5 participants minimum; 12 maximum per trip
